Google-Chrome Vulnerability

By June 2, 2020July 21st, 2020No Comments

Recently following the announcement from Microsoft, stating that windows 10 has seven critical vulnerabilities, Google has also come forward to announce a critical security vulnerability. On April 15, Prudhvikumar Bommana, a technical program manager in Google Chrome mentioned that the critical security vulnerability consists of a “use after free” situation related to the speech recognition section.

Users of the desktop client for Windows, Mac and Linux are affected by the vulnerability. If a cyber attacker successfully deceives a user into opening a malicious webpage, it could set off the “use after free” memory. A “use after free” vulnerability can be described as one whereby an attempt to gain access to a particular memory, even after it has been placed in another location, would most likely cause a crash. Consequently, a user’s system could be compromised as the hacker can go-ahead to carry out malicious activities on the system. This issue has been rated as a critical security issue by Google.
